when "finsh him" appears stay out of sweep range and press F,F,D,HK. this will super freeze him/her (Note: if you hit your opponent at this stage he/she will unfreeze and just die as usual and if you leave them standing they won't fall down just stand there frozen.)
then you can do Fatality 1 or jump next to your opponent and press F,D,F,F,HP. this will result in Sub Zero uppercarting the super frozen opponent into smithereans, leaving frozen legs standing.

When "finish him" appears hold LP and move to the back off the screen, press B,B,D,F and release LP.
Sub Zero should throw a small ice ball at your opponent and His/her torso will explode, leaving His/Her legs standing.
